About
Coast Road Records
Preacher
Boy has always been an independent artist, and for the release
of "Demanding To Be Next", he has taken this philosophy
one step further by launching his own label, Coast Road Records.
The label is distributed by Redeye Distribution, who were recognized
in both 2000 and 2002 as "Distributor of the Year" by the National
Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM). "Demanding To Be
Next" is the debut release on Coast Road.
Where does the name "Coast Road" come from? Well, it has a few sources...
In part, its meant to reference Highway 1 in Northern California,
where Preacher Boy's lovely lady Amy Marinelli grew up. They have
both spent countless hours trolling through the fog looking for
perfect skipping rocks, running with a seemingly endless parade
of labrador retrievers, drinking absolutely gallons and gallons
of wine, and writing. Many, many Preacher Boy tunes have been written
on those gloriously wild shores.
It's also meant to evoke that great stretch of road made legendary
in so many of Preacher Boy's favorite Delta and Country Blues songs,
The Gulf Coast Road.
Lastly, it's a direct reference to the road that runs along the
western coast of Ireland, the stretch that travels south from Galway
to Doolin. About halfway down, on the very southern tip of Galway
Bay, is a tiny fishing village called Ballyvaughan. This was home
for over a year, and both "Comin' Up Aces" and "Cemetery Stout"
were written there, while living in the old parochial house just
outside the village. Despite Ireland having such a reputation for
the poetry of its people, the road in question is titled rather
simply. It's called "The Coast Road."
